Last few days of the month, the roll closes. You wait. Together. Both of you have been shooting, neither has seen the other.
20:00 of the last day. Both rolls open at the same time, with a vintage film filter. A 15-second video drops, ready to share.
Scarcity makes you choose. The first coffee, the laugh on the bus, the corner of the living room at the right hour. You're forced to notice the days again.
Missed a day? You get one Recovery shot the morning after. Up to three a month. Skip more and your roll keeps the holes — as veiled cards in the grid.
From the moment you pair, your photos and theirs live in separate envelopes. No previews. No thumbnails. No "almost". The reveal is the product.
At 20:00 of the last day of the month, both envelopes open at the same time. Local time. Same moment, two coasts apart.
When the reveal lands, Trace composes a vertical video of the month — polaroid transitions, vintage filter, scored to music. One tap to share to TikTok, Instagram, or wherever lives the moment.
No feed, no followers, no comments, no likes. Trace is a private 1:1 product. End-to-end protected by row-level security on the server — only the paired couple can see the photos.

Pricing
Your own photos are always free to view. The subscription unlocks your partner's roll after a reveal. Months you pay for stay full forever — even if you cancel later.
Common questions
You get one Recovery shot the next morning to fill yesterday's slot. Up to three Recoveries a month. Beyond that, the missed days appear as veiled cards in your roll — a feature, not a bug.
The reveal still happens on schedule. Whichever days your partner missed render as veiled cards on their side. You both get to see what was there — and what wasn't.
No. Trace is for two. The whole product (the wait, the reveal, the shared month) only works when both people commit. We don't bend on that.
Either of you can dissolve the pairing from Settings. Each keeps their copy of the historical rolls. Past months stay revealed; no new roll starts. You can restore the pairing for 60 days if you change your mind.
Days 28 to 31 are the anticipation phase. The wait is part of the product — it's what makes the reveal feel earned.
Because then Trace stops being Trace. It becomes a photo dump. The in-app camera, the daily limit, and the no-edits rule are what make the monthly reveal mean something.
